Open the box carefully specially if you use a craft knife. Unpack the whole set of elements.
Assembling your bed headboards, feetboards and decorative wall panels is both simple and
playful. The following assembly steps will allow you to obtain a finished product giving you a
great satisfaction.
We recommend that you assist your children during all the decoration and assembling steps.
Important :
- stain the spruce pieces before to glue them.
- work in an airy room to avoid dust problems.
- shake the cans of tints before using.
- do not mix the different cans of colors together, the supplied tints are the result of correct
proportioning corresponding to the necessary colors.
Tints are applied very simply without risk to go over the edges of one zone to an other, owing to the grooved surfaces of 2 mm that delimit the zones to be stained.
Apply tints on all the pieces
except the edges to be glued
for assembly.
Use the different size
of brushes according
to the zone to be
painted.
Rinse brushes carefully with water after use.
Suggestions for decorative wall panels:
- the expression zone (bush, walls, hills...) can be covered many different ways :
l blackboard paint* (green, black ...) to use with chalks
l white board* to write or draw with dry-wipe markers
l laying of cork* to fix drawings, pictures...
l magnetic paint* to fix magnets...
* These products are not supplied
Important :
- after staining, let dry approximately 12 hours.
- then sand down lightly with the supplied sand paper.
- dust.
You will obtain a smooth surface.
If you wish, you can apply a second coat of varnish.
Then repeat drying/sandpapering steps.
Important :
- assembling must be done on a working surface at least equal to the surface of the product.
- carry out the assembly of pieces respecting the drying time for each piece.
Spruce can be sensitive to hygrometric conditions .
In case of difficulty to fit the pieces to be assembled, do not hesitate to sand down the edges slightly.
Use the little wood glue bottle supplied with the kit, to glue the edges of pieces to be assembled.
Wipe out the surplus of glue , little by little, using a wet sponge.
Varnish the complete tinted surface with
the supplied clear silk finish water
varnish.
Always spread the varnish with the grain
of the wood, using the larger brush.
If you wish to give your products a
smoother satin-like aspect (bed
headboards, feetboards and decorative
wall panels), you can softly sand down
the products after the first coat of
varnish. Then dust carefully and give
another coat of varnish.
Fixing your bed headboard and footboard :
- for bed bases of 12 cm (4.7 inches) high minimum, use
the supplied metal sliding parts (4 fixing points).
- for metal-framed bed bases or for direct fixing on wall
use screws and pegs (not supplied).
Fixing your wall decorative panels :
- use screws and pegs suited to the type of wall
(not supplied).
Wipe with a wet soapy sponge once in a while if necessary.
